Plenary Session 2 presentation title: “The alternative pathway of complement activation in IgA nephropathy”
Dr Nick Medjeral-Thomas, MRCP PhD
Imperial Post-Doctoral Post-CCT Research Fellow and Honorary Consultant (Renal), Imperial College London, UK
I am a postdoctoral clinical research fellow at the Centre for Inflammatory Disease, Imperial College London. My research interest is the role of complement activity in glomerular kidney diseases, in particular IgA nephropathy (IgAN) and C3 glomerulopathy (C3G). My current research aims are to describe the contribution of complement factor H related proteins to IgAN and C3G, and identify novel therapeutic targets and biomarkers for these important diseases. I am also an honorary consultant nephrologist at the Imperial Renal and Transplant Centre, where I manage patients with IgAN, C3G and other autoimmune kidney diseases.
