Specialist Advisor in Renal Pathology to the Royal College of Pathologists, 1998–2010, producing standards documents for renal biopsy services in the UK.
Research activities include:
Pathology co-ordinator for the International IgA nephropathy Network working group (2006–2009), a lead author for this group that developed an international consensus classification of IgA nephropathy (the “Oxford Classification”), and co-author of the 2016 update.
Pathology co-ordinator for the VALIGA study, a European validation study of the Oxford Classification.
Central review pathologist for international clinical trials in IgA nephropathy.
Member of International working groups that are updating the classification of lupus nephritis and producing consensus histological criteria for defining and classifying glomerular diseases.
